Head Shift ~ 28 May 2013

Norwac is over and it was fabulous! Next year is this amazing conference’s 30th anniversary - a must attend event.

While I’m at it, let me tell you about something else very cool I encountered at Norwac. My friend, Paul O’Brien (founder of Tarot.com), in cahoots with another gent has come up with a fantastic, beautiful I-Ching oracle for your smart phone. Search in Apple or Google Stores for "Visionary I Ching oracle cards" for beautifully illustrated, authentic I Ching consultation app. Download a sample version for free, upgrade for $5.99 - $6.99 when you are ready for full version.

So now I’m back and in full work mode on the astrological and screenwriting fronts (stay tuned for exciting new details). I did manage to take a brief moment to bask in the glory of the desert landscape and enjoy a moment of momentary repose. Momentary is the key word. As soon as things settled for a moment, my brain kicked in and thoughts swirled about as if the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Jupiter in Gemini were preparing to be joined by Mars.

The planets in Gemini mental jamboree shifts about rapidly in the next days. Mercury enters Cancer three and a half hours before Mars enters Gemini on the 31st. Then on June 3, Venus splashes into Cancer. Still, that’s a lot of thought provoking, ruled by Mercury, mental magic happening. In fact, the thought-based, “logic must prevail,” “figure this all out” era has been significantly underscored and amplified by Jupiter in Gemini since last June.

Indeed, cognitive powers, mental acuity, instinctive response to the immediate environment and logic processing methods have had their way with decisions made during the past year. That’s all fixing to change.

It’s going to be quite the shift as Jupiter enters Cancer on June 26. This planetary sign border crossing is a perfect personification of the classic battle of head versus heart. Gemini says think; Cancer promotes the merits of feeling. Do you think it through or use your guts to sense the correct course of action? Again, for the past year, the mental process likely worked like a champ. Now Jupiter changes his mind, reporting that trusting gut level instincts into July 2014 appears to be the superior modality. Just like that, cold turkey, we are told to shift the way things are done. Go from thinking to feeling. Just do it.

That feels right. Right?

Well, it feels half right, at least right now. For another three weeks the Sun, the other big guy in the solar system, ping pongs about in Gemini with Mars until July 13. At that time, it’s going to be easier and more natural to engage with the gut-based feeling approach to life.

Oh yeah, that means the classic head versus heart theme will be alive and well in the lives of all between now and the middle of July. What to do?

First, Jupiter is more dominant than Mars. Despite the Sun’s travels in Gemini, once the gaseous giant enters Cancer on June 26th, he has a few cheat sheet notes for you:

When a decision point arrives, check inside to see if the decision is an emotional one dealing with creative attributes, highly charged feelings or matters of the psyche. If this criterion fits, go with the guts.

If a decision is one of a practical matter which should be logical to which a high degree of emotional charge applies, go with the gut. For instance, if a potential job change requires an adjustment that has emotional impact, you have to remain true to your feelings about the transition. You know, if that high paying job in the perfect geographic location is part of a product, service or whatever with which you have a philosophical bone to pick, the answer must be resolved by baseline reactions.

As a remedy to the above type of avoidance-approach conflict, make a list of the pros and cons of any situation you face. See which side is favored. Note the logical decision. Then, wad up the list of paper, toss it in a bin and see which alternative feels better. There’s your decision.

Should your decision be something of a coin toss... for instance, contrasting comparable car at the same price and similar features is better, logic applies.

Help arrives in early July though Mars persists in the last degrees of Gemini, claiming all the insights of the Galactic Center, which may or may not align with what feels good.

The first aid appears as the Earth arrives at aphelion on July 5. The aphelion is a planet’s most distant retreat from the Sun, in the case, the Earth. So, for matters mundane, step back. Take a breath. Commune with nature. Reset your instincts and relocate your psyche into the core of your being. A little chill out time here goes a long way, especially when pondering forks in the road. Incidentally, the Earth at aphelion on July 5th, plus or minus a day, is an annual occurrence.

The second assist comes along when Jupiter enters Cancer from the Sun’s point of view (heliocentrically) on July 6. Heliocentric influences tend to work more with the meaning of a situation as opposed the details of an event or circumstance. At this point, apply a “best fit for the soul” approach to choices that demand an immediate reply.

Mars enters Cancer on July 13. Here the process of synchronization with the merit and means of emotionally-based or spirit-driven decision making is complete... in theory. That how it feels to you? If not, give it one more reboot. Spin the available data three times (a Mercury-Gemini rule). Should the information and logic not be able to apply a decision that feels good, stay true to intestinal reactions.

There are several weeks to prepare for the change of decision-making venues. Perhaps with the time line above, a test of the emotional waters with a toe precedes a dive right on in. The water’s fine.

More soon.
